Your insurance company doesn't choose your body shop. You do.
In Virginia, you choose who repairs your vehicle. Autohaus works with all major insurance companies and handles the claim paperwork for you.
Your Rights in Virginia
What state law says about who repairs your vehicle.
-
You choose the shop
An insurer can't require you to use a particular repair shop as a condition of paying your claim. The Virginia SCC says the final decision is yours.
-
Recommendations are optional
If your insurer recommends a shop, it must tell you you're under no obligation to use it and disclose any financial interest it has in that shop.
-
Aftermarket parts are disclosed
If the insurer's estimate uses non-OEM exterior parts, it must tell you in writing, and those parts must be at least equal in fit, quality and performance.
-
Payment follows local rates
Insurers base payment on the prevailing competitive price for similar repairs in the area. We review the estimate with you before work begins.
